911 Assist Overview

911 Assist® (if equipped) is a SYNC® system feature that can call for help if you’re in an accident.* 911 Assist uses your Bluetooth-paired and connected phone to initiate a 9-1-1 call directly to local responders, even if you are unable to reach the necessary controls. After relaying details of the accident and your vehicle's location, 911 Assist will open the line so that you can speak directly with the 9-1-1 Call Taker. If you or your passengers are not able to respond, 911 Assist can help provide the Emergency Call Taker with important information so you can get the help you need.12,13,18,21,25

*Aftermarket OBD-II wireless transceiver diagnostic devices may interfere with various vehicle systems including Vehicle Health Report and 911 Assist. To avoid interference, remove the device or contact the device maker for more information on compatibility.

How to change 911 Assist settings

If you're in a crash where airbags deploy or (in certain vehicles) the fuel-pump shuts off, 911 Assist with GPS® uses your paired phone to call a 911 operator.* The microphone is on so anyone in the vehicle can speak to the operator, even if unable to reach the controls. 911 Assist is off by default, so you must change settings to turn it on or disable reminder alerts.12,18
