Download the Lincoln Way app from the App Store™ or Google Play™. If you already have the Lincoln Way app on your phone, open the app.
Log into the Lincoln Way app. If you already have a Lincoln Owner account, use your Owner username and password. If you do not have an Owner account, you can create an account via the Lincoln Way app with some basic information.
Create a four-digit PIN for security. iPhone users can also use Touch ID.
Add your Wi-Fi Hotspot-equipped vehicle to “My Vehicles” by scanning the VIN barcode found on the inside of the driver’s door of your vehicle with your phone’s camera or by typing it into your phone.
A confirmation screen will confirm come up and let you know that the VIN is confirmed and that you have successfully added your vehicle. You can also nickname your vehicle e.g. “My New Lincoln.”
Tap “Finish” and you will be taken to your vehicle’s information. An “Activate Lincoln Connect” ribbon will be available in the middle of the screen.
Tap the “Activate” ribbon from the “My Vehicles” card.
After a few minutes, start your vehicle.
A pop-up message will appear on the SYNC 3 touchscreen. Tap “Allow” to continue.
Note: If you miss selecting “Allow”, the pop-message will appear until you select “Allow” or within the next 10 consecutive vehicle start-ups. If you do not select “Allow”, you’ll need to restart the process from the beginning.
Go back into the Lincoln Way app.
Tap the blue “Vehicle Hotspot” button.
Tap the “Set Up Data Plan” button to be directed to the AT&T connected car page to sign-up for your trial.
Follow the steps provided by the carrier to sign up and begin your complimentary data trial to start enjoying your Wi-Fi Hotspot. No credit card is required to set up the complimentary trial.
Ensure the Wi-Fi Hotspot is turned “On” with the toggle in the right position (some vehicles may have the Wi-Fi turned off).
Select “Settings” and “View Password”. You will be able to see the name of the Wi-Fi Hotspot as well as the password that will be needed in order to connect. The Wi-Fi Hotspot will have a “Service Set Identifier” (SSID) name. This is the name of your Wi-Fi Hotspot and will be needed to connect a device.
Use a Wi-Fi enabled device, such as your phone or a tablet, to connect to the vehicle’s hotspot, also referred to as a “network” by some devices. If you do not see your vehicle’s Wi-Fi Hotspot listed then make sure your device’s Wi-Fi is turned “On” or try toggling your device’s Wi-Fi off and on again to refresh the list of available networks.
Note: As noted above, the vehicle's Wi-Fi Hotspot (SSID) name a can be found in the vehicle's SYNC Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings screen.
After connecting to the vehicle’s Wi-Fi Hotspot through your preferred device, open an internet browser (Safari or Chrome are preferred) and go to lincoln.com. The device will automatically be redirected to AT&T’s connected car page for you to sign up for your complimentary trial.
Follow the steps provided by the carrier to sign up and begin your complimentary wireless data trial to start enjoying your Wi-Fi Hotspot. No credit card is required to set up the complimentary trial.
Don’t forget that your trial will expire after 3 months or 3 GB of data used, whichever comes first. To ensure you don’t lose service, sign up for a wireless data plan from AT&T.
